Why standard gateways fall short
Generic e-commerce payment processors assume that if a customer pays, you ship the product immediately. Healthcare does not work that way. In telehealth, a payment is an authorization that remains pending until a licensed clinician reviews the chart, determines eligibility, and writes a prescription.
If a patient is disqualified during clinical review, their payment must be automatically voided. If a pharmacy requires a dosage adjustment, the recurring subscription amount must update synchronously. When billing and clinical systems are disconnected, staff are forced to manually reconcile refunds and subscription tiers, leading to errors and chargebacks.

Who acts as the merchant of record?
Your clinic remains the merchant of record. Funds are settled directly to your bank account, and your business name appears on patient credit card statements.
How quickly are funds transferred?
Payout timing is set by the processor and your risk profile, and it is visible in the dashboard for every batch. Banking holidays and reviews can move a payout.
Can I accept HSA and FSA cards?
Yes. Telea supports HSA and FSA cards. We also generate the necessary itemized receipts that patients need for compliance.
What happens when a recurring card fails?
Telea automatically attempts retries based on optimized schedules. If the card continues to fail, the patient is notified via email and SMS to update their payment method before their treatment is interrupted.
How are processing fees presented?
Fees are stated in your agreement and shown per transaction in the dashboard, so a payout can be reconciled line by line.
Where does card data live?
Card numbers are tokenized by the payment processor and never touch our servers. Payment records are kept apart from clinical records, and the two are linked by reference only.
